Multiple IRR Calculator

Location:DCF Analysis

Finance.ThinkAndDone.com provides you online and windows calculators to calculate multiple internal rates of return IRR from a series of cash flows using different guess value. IRR is found using an iterative method known as Newton Raphson method that at first transforms the series of discounted cash flows as a function of x. The next step is to find the derivative f'x of the function of x. Once these two functions are ready, an iterative set of calculations are carried out using a seed rate. If the successive results converge then it is assumed that an IRR has been found. If the values do not converge it is assumed that an IRR is not found using the guess rate and we redo the calculations using a different guess rate.

Instructions

To use this online calculator to calculate multiple IRR values, you need to type in series of net cash flows and guess rates. Ensure that the cash flows have at least 1 positive amount and at least 1 negative amount, otherwise the IRR Calculator won't be able to produce the required internal rate of return. See the instructions listed below to find IRR with this online calculator

  • You have to key in the series of net cash flow each of which is separated by a space such as 55000 -1300 -1500 -1600 -1450 -1750 -1800 -1950 -2000
  • Provide 2 different guess rates to start off the Newton Raphson calculations
  • Finally a click on the CALCULATE button will yield the required rates of -22.93% and -161.83%
