To use this online calculator to calculate missing cash flow, you need to type in series of known cash flows along with the symbolic X for the missing cash flow. If NPV is known you will have to provide it along with the discount rate however if IRR is known you will have to enter it's value

  1. If the 3rd cash flow is unknown as is the case here -10000 5000 4000 x 1000 you have to type in the series of such cash flows in the text box
  2. Second you have to provide the discount rate such as 12
  3. And then the NPV has to be typed in as 424
  4. Finally, a click on the CALCULATE button will display the missing cash flow of 3000
