MS Excel is a unique decision support system and provides various formulas and functions to solve business and financial problems. However you would need to learn how to use functions like PV, FV, PMT, RATE, NPER to do time value of money calculations. Each of these functions may be used in different context to compute things such a payment on a loan, ending balance of a savings account, principal on a loan, the term of loan, present value factor, future value factor, present and future value of an annuity, and annuity due or a growing annuity, net present value, internal rate of return, profitability index, modified internal rate of return. Yet in some cases one would have to program Excel to find Payback Period. Here we provide Excel templates and Excel calcuclators that let you use most of these functions, these templates and calculators are easy to configure and may be reused if done properly.     This online RATE calculator permits you to find the interest rate that is applicable to a series of payments and an initial deposit in case there is one. For example you can find interset rate offered by a bank savings account where you have made an initial deposit followed by a series of periodic deposits. You may also use this RATE calculator to find rate of return from a security such as a non zero or zero coupon bond.

The FV calculator works the same way as the FV function in MS Excel spreadsheet program.
